Recent Updates to New Google Ads API (v10)
We have released the following updates which will impact all users who have already been migrated to the new Google Ads API:
- Previously, users on the new Google Ads API were receiving an error related to “Labels” dimension; this error is now resolved. If your column results in blank results, try switching “Report Datasource” Dropdown to “Ad Performance”
- Clean up of URLs that were being displayed with extra, unnecessary characters
- Clean up of new Local Ad dimensions so that verbiage such as [{"text": and [{"asset”: are not included in the text.
- New Local Ads dimensions were added to support “First” asset per element of a Local Ad, in addition to the previously added dimensions which would include all assets per element of a Local Ad:
-
- ‘Local Ads - First Call to Action’
- ‘Local Ads - First Description’
- ‘Local Ads - First Headline’
- ‘Local Ads - First Logo Image’ (add as Custom Dimension and display as Image)
- ‘Local Ads - First Marketing Image’ (add as Custom Dimension and display as Image)
- ‘Local Ads - First Video’
-
- Updates to ‘Ad Display’ dimension:
-
- Now, Local Ads can also be displayed through this dimension along with the rest of the ad types
- Image Ads, Responsive Display Ads and Responsive Search Ads are now properly supported
-
- NinjaTrack / Google Ads Conversions (for those sending NinjaTrack calls to Google Ads):
-
-
- For those users who have “Enable AdWords Conversion Tracking” enabled for a NinjaTrack line (and sending calls to Google Ads), the following will be true when reviewing those calls in Google Ads platform:
-
- Call recorded under “All Conv.” and “Conversions” metrics
- Conversion Active Type = “Website Call”
- Conversion Action Category = “Phone Call Lead” (previously “Other” which no longer exists)
- Conversion Action Counting Type = One Per Click
- Click-through Window Days = 90 (no change)
- View-through Window Days = 30 (no change)
-
- For those users who have “Enable AdWords Conversion Tracking” enabled for a NinjaTrack line (and sending calls to Google Ads), the following will be true when reviewing those calls in Google Ads platform:
-
No changes made by NinjaCat, but additional information on new results from new Google Ads API, as defined and determined by Google:
- Through the new Google Ads API, there is a different formatting of results being returned by most dimensions where the most noticeable differences are values in ALL_CAPS with an underscore filling in the spaces. In some cases, the entire value may differ from what was previously returned from the old Google Adwords API. A good example of this being: 'Display' result from the Network dimension is now returned as 'Content'
- These are changes made by Google. These adjusted results could impact existing filters or find & replace values on custom dimensions. It is recommended to review the following article and review any templates that could be impacted by these changes.
