Possible Outcomes
- If your widget results in an Error containing phrases such as “Incompatible Dimensions or Metrics,” “ErrorString,” “Invalid from Clause:”
- If your widget contains Dimensions or Metrics now resulting in “N/A” with “(Deprecated)” in the name of the selection:
- If your widget results in an “Improperly Configured Settings” error with Red attributes:
- If your widget is resulting in “No Data Returned,” and this is NOT expected:
- If your widget contains Keywords, and the totals seem to be off by a significant amount:
- “Organic Shown Only” results from Search Result Type is no longer pulling through the API
If your widget results in an Error containing phrases such as “Incompatible Dimensions or Metrics,” “ErrorString,” “Invalid from Clause:”
- Check that the Report Data Source dropdown on the right-hand side is set to DEFAULT.
- If the error persists, review the combination of dimensions and metrics in your widget; test removing the columns one by one to get back to a valid state.
If your widget contains Dimensions or Metrics now resulting in “N/A” with “(Deprecated)” in the name of the selection:
- This means that these columns are no longer supported by Google and cannot pull data through the API for these. It is recommended to remove these as columns in your widget.
If your widget results in an “Improperly Configured Settings” error with Red attributes:
- One or more of your dimensions or metrics is either deprecated or incompatible with the other dimensions or metrics in the widget. Review the combination of dimensions and metrics in your widget; test removing the columns one by one to get back to a valid state.
If your widget is resulting in “No Data Returned,” and this is NOT expected:
- Is there a Filter included in the widget?
- Review this list of dimensions which are now expected to return different formatting of results. If your filter is based on a dimension in this list, potentially the outdated value of your filter is now preventing data from pulling through. Remove the filter from your widget so you can review the full set of results, and adjust your filter as needed based on the new formatting of results.
- Is there a Global Filter included in the widget?
- Refer to the previous bullet, but you would need to review this at the network-level, and potentially the advertiser level.
If your widget contains Keywords, and the totals seem to be off by a significant amount:
- Through the old API, there was a row labeled “Content” or “Not Set,” bucketing traffic not driven by set keywords. Through the new API, this row of data is not returned. Rather, what is returned from the API is the “Total: Keywords” row instead of the “Total: Account” row from the Google Ads Keywords view. Please cross-reference those totals against NinjaCat numbers
“Organic Shown Only” results from Search Result Type is no longer pulling through the API
- Through the old API, this was a result, but it is no longer pulling through the API. This may be causing a discrepancy between what you see in Google Ads UI and NinjaCat. There is not a solution for this on NinjaCat’s end, as this potentially is a bug on Google’s end.
