An interactive dashboard offers the opportunity to explore data through flexible manipulation. The dashboard filters feature is one way a NinjaCat dashboard provides that opportunity to you and your clients. Under the Dashboard Profile settings NinjaCat offers the ability to add controls to view all of the currency metrics with or without margins, and to filter all widgets using select dimensions. This article covers how to turn on the Dashboard Margin Toggle, as well as everything you'll need to know to activate and customize Agency Dashboard Filters.

Turning on the Dashboard Margin Toggle
1. Go to "Reporting" in the top navigation
2. Click on "Dashboards" from the Reporting sub-navigation bar
3. Go to the Dashboard Profile settings by either:
- Creating a New Dashboard Profile or,
- Clicking the "Edit" icon of the desired dashboard from the Dashboards List
4. Scroll down to the "Dashboard Filters (Beta)" section
5. Set the "Use Dashboard Margin Toggle" toggle switch to the desired position
- "On" (toggled right) - presents a "Show Margins" toggle to all users of this dashboard under the Filters dropdown of the dashboard's top navigation controls. This toggle in the dashboard allows users to choose whether or not to include the margins established in the Agency or Account Settings in the currency metrics displayed in the dashboard
- Show Margins (toggle shown in the dashboard)
- "On" (checked box) - all currency metrics in the dashboard include the margins established in the Agency or Account Settings
- "Off" (unchecked box) - all currency metrics in the dashboard will show publisher-direct values, ignoring the margins established in the Agency or Account Settings
- Show Margins (toggle shown in the dashboard)
- "Off" (toggled left) - dashboard users will not be able to choose whether or not to include the margins established in the Agency or Account Settings in the currency metrics displayed in the dashboard
6. Click the "Save Changes" button near the bottom left of the window
Turning on Agency Dashboard Filters
1. Go to "Reporting" in the top navigation
2. Click on "Dashboards" from the Reporting sub-navigation bar
3. Go to the Dashboard Profile settings by either:
- Creating a New Dashboard Profile or,
- Clicking the "Edit" button (pencil icon) of the desired dashboard from the Dashboards List
4. Scroll down to the "Dashboard Filters (Beta)" section
5. Set the "Use Agency Dashboard Filters" toggle switch to the desired position
- "On" (toggled right) - presents the additional required options to finish Setting Up Agency Dashboard Filters (covered in the next section of this article)
- "Off" (toggled left) -dashboard users will not be able to filter the data displayed in the dashboard
NinjaNote: At least one Agency Dashboard Filter needs to be created to save a Dashboard Profile if "Use Agency Dashboard Filters" is "On" (toggled right)
6. Click the "Save Changes" button near the bottom left of the window
Setting Up Agency Dashboard Filters
1. Turn on Agency Dashboard Filters
2. Click on the Dimensions drop-down menu to reveal the list of Available Dimensions
3. Click on the desired dimension from the list to select it
4. Click the "Add" button near the right side of the window
Repeat steps 3 and 4 till all desired dimensions have been added
5. Customize the way the added dimensions and their results appear to the dashboard user (optional)
- Drag and Drop Row to Reorder - click and drag the row of an added dimension, higher or lower in the list, to change the order of the agency dashboard filters presented to the user
- Label - customize the name of the agency dashboard filter created by this dimension. If this field is left empty the dimension name will be used
- Find and Replace - add replacements to the dimension results shown to the user under the agency dashboard filter. You can type literal matches for the dimension results and the desired replacement, or use Regular Expressions by checking the box for "Regex"
- Add Replacement - creates a new "Find and Replace" for the dimension results
- Find - the matching criteria for the find and replace
- Replace - what will replace the results matched in the "Find" field
- Match Case (toggle)
- "On" (checked box) - the matching criteria in the "Find" field will be case-sensitive
- "Off" (unchecked box) - the matching criteria in the "Find" field will be case-insensitive
- Regex (toggle)
- "On" (checked box) - the "Find" and "Replace" fields will use regular expressions
- "Off" (unchecked box) -the "Find" and "Replace" fields will use literal matches
- Delete - removes the agency dashboard filter
NinjaNote: The dimension results that create the filter options displayed in the dashboard do not contain any "Custom Display Names" or "Find and Replaces" that may be present in the templates creating the Views in the dashboard. To ensure consistency between the results displayed in the dashboard and the filtering options under an Agency Dashboard Filter, recreate any "Custom Display Names" or "Find and Replaces" present in the templates creating the Views in the dashboard under the Find and Replace customization option of the Agency Dashboard Filter
6. Click the "Save Changes" button near the bottom left of the window
Available Dimensions for Agency Dashboard Filters
All of the dimensions available for Agency Dashboard Filters are aggregate dimensions that will attempt to filter all of the data present in the dashboard. The dimension results that create the filter options displayed in the dashboard do not contain any "Custom Display Names" or "Find and Replaces" that may be present in the templates creating the views in the dashboard.
NinjaNote: If a data source present in the dashboard does not have an aggregatable dimension set in NinjaCat for the dimension used to create an Agency Dashboard Filter, the results from that data source will be filtered out of every widget in the dashboard anytime a user uses that filter
