Sept 19 2017: Historical Margins, multiple data sources from the same ad network + more!

Improvements/New Features

  • Support URL for Image Widget
    • Now when using the image widget you are able to reference an external URL
    • You are also able to add images from notes
      image8.png
  • Allow interval control on the X axis for chart
    • When using a chart within the template editor, you will now have the option to control the interval on the x-axis using the "Dimension Axis Interval" field
    • This field will only be available with any aggregate Date dimensions i.e. Date, Day of Month, Day of Week, etc.
      image1.png
  • Change Custom Field Name
    • All references that were previously named "Custom Fields" have been changed to "Account Groups"
  • Aggregated "Device Type" dimension across multiple Data Sources
    • Any Data provider that allows "Device Type" as an aggregatable dimension will be displayed as either "Computers", "Mobile Devices", "Tablets", or "Unknown"
    • The editor will not allow using the "device type" dimension with a data source that is not supported:
      image24.png
    • The Data Providers that do not allow for  the "device type" dimensions are: Adroll, Call Tracking, Double Click Campaign Manager, Facebook Insights, Google My Business, Google Sheets, The TradeDesk, Twitter Organic and Zapier.
  • Moving Pages - Send to Bottom / Send to Top Options
    • Within the Template Editor you will now have the additional options of "Move to Top" and "Move to Bottom" for a page.
      image18.png
  • Show graph values for line/bar/pie charts
    • For any chart, you will have the ability to see values as labels.
    • By default, the "Show Data Label" toggle will be in the off position.
    • If you turn on the "Show Data Label" toggle, then for all charts excluding the Pie chart you will be defaulted to show the "value" format or have the option to select "Dimension Name and Metric Value" format.
      image28.png
      image32.png
    • For Pie charts, if the "Show Data Label" is selected, the "Data Label Format" will be defaulted to "Percentage" with the options of selecting "value" or "Dimension Name and Metric Value".
  • Account Page- Add a Dashboard Icon to the left of the "settings" button
    • We now have the dashboard icon which appears just to the left of the "settings" button in order to access the dashboards from this page.image20.png
  • Added Conversion Rate as an Aggregate metric
    • Conversion rate has been added as an aggregate metric to the following data sources: Bing Ads, Call Tracking, Centro, Facebook, Yahoo Gemini (not yet available for widgets), Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Google DoubleClick Bid Manager, Google DoubleClick Search, The TradeDesk.
    • Conversion Rate is calculated as conversions/clicks, or conversions/calls in the case of Call Tracking sources. All values are multiplied by 100 to represent the value as a percentile.
    • Conversion Rate is available as both aggregate and non-aggregate metric.
      image7.jpg
  • Mappings for Facebook Pixel, Google Sheet, Zapier Data sources
    • Once a network has been created or is present, you will now see an "Edit mapping" button within the network settings page
      image17.png
    • Upon selecting the "edit mapping" button you will be able to create new mappings by "Add Mapping" or edit existing ones.
    • Once a mapping has been created, you can now use it within the template editor by clicking on the pencil icon, just as before within the data source section to specify the mapping you wish to use.
      image13.png
    • Upon selecting a mapping of your choice, 2 new buttons will appear:
      image10.png
    • View Mapping - Upon selecting this button you will be able to see each the dimension(s) and metric(s) that this mapping contains and its attributes.
      image12.png
    • Edit Mapping - will take you back to the "Setup>Datasources>Edit Mapping>Selected Mapping", where you will be able to make any necessary changes.  Clicking "Cancel" or "Save" will take you  back to the template editor. NOTE: Any changes made to the mapping will update every template and widget that uses that mapping.
    • After selecting the mapping, you will then be able to choose the dimensions and metrics just like with any other datasource.
    • Google Sheets - Brand New Mapping
      • When adding a brand new google sheet mapping you will need to name the mapping, select the spreadsheet and specify the sheet you would like to use as well as choose if you will be filtering by an account column.
      • If you choose to specify by an account column you can then choose the account id which you will be filtering by (Account Name, Ninjacat ID, External ID, and Specify at the Account Level).  NOTE:  Only mappings in which you select "Specify at the account level" will appear as available mappings at the advertiser network level.  This also means that if you do not "specify at the account level" than any account that you choose in the template editor will display data.
      • You will then need to create the dimensions and metrics just as was previously done within the template editor except now using this new UI.
      • You will only be able to save your mapping once all three tabs are filled out.
        image14.png
    • Google Sheets - Existing Widgets
      • All existing google sheet widgets will work as before when reports are run and within the template editor.
        • Only those accounts that were meant to show the data will render the data within the template editor.  For example if Advertiser "Coca Cola" was set up with the google sheet advertiser network, than within the template editor only "Coca Cola" account will show data and any other account will come back with the message "No data was returned.  The requested google sheet definition cannot be found."
      • If you edit an existing google sheet widget by clicking on the pencil icon, you will see the following screen:
        image11.png
      • You will be able to "Edit Dimensions" or "Edit Metrics", which will allow you to edit, add or delete to this existing widget which will ONLY impact this specific widget.
      • Selecting "create new mapping", you are able to choose to which google sheet network your mapping will be created in.  Upon clicking "Go" all of the dimensions and metrics that were in that widget will appear already there which you will be able to edit, remove and create additional if need be.  Here you will need to name the mapping, select a spreadsheet and sheet and choose whether it will be filtered by account.  Upon clicking on "save" you will be brought back to the template editor where your mapping will appear in the dropdown which you can choose to use by clicking on "Use Mapping" or choose another mapping from the list or not use anyone at all.
        image27.png
      • If you choose to use this new mapping in which you have created, you will be brought to the new state in which the "edit dimensions" and "edit metrics" buttons will disappear.
      • Note: All previous advertiser networks that were set up, will no longer appear within the command center>data sources widget.  Only those advertiser networks that were filtering by an account id will remain.
    • Zapier - Brand New Mapping
      • When adding a brand new zapier mapping, you will need to create a zapier network and click on "edit mapping"->"Add Mapping" and enter a name, dimensions and metrics similar to that of google sheets.   The Header mappings will only have a dropdown of the available selections if the zapier data is already in our database.
      • Once a mapping has been created, within the template editor, after adding the zapier datasource and clicking on the pencil icon you will need to select a mapping.  Once a mapping is selected it is similar to google sheets, where you will be able to view the mapping or edit the mapping and then just choose your dimensions and metrics
    • Zapier - Existing Mapping
      • All existing zapier widgets will work as before when reports are run and within the template editor.
      • Similar to that of google sheets, upon clicking the pencil icon, you will be able to edit existing dimensions and metrics which will only update the widget you are on.
      • You can "create new mapping" which will create a mapping within the zapier key that is visible and will pre-populate the dimensions and metrics from the widget you are in
      • You can "Pick from mapping list" which will have an available list of existing mappings within the zapier network of the zapier key.
        screenshot-docs.google.com-2017-09-19-18-40-25-179.png
    • Facebook Pixels
      • For existing widget that used the Facebook Pixels, data will rendered as previous in the template editor and with reports. You will be able to modify your custom pixels as well as pick new ones from the mapping list or create brand new mappings using the same pixels ids created in the selected widget.
      • For brand new widgets, in order for the data to render within the template editor or report, the mapping needs to be assigned to the advertiser network as well as within the template editor. All of same functionality as with google sheets as zapier apply here for viewing the mapping, and editing the mapping.
  • Agency/Account Settings -Ability to add Historical Margins by Month
    • With Shinobi templates and dashboards, margins can now be set on 3 levels:
      1. Agency level - Setup > Agency Settings > Margins > Select source > Set date and values
        image33.jpg
      2. Account level - Accounts > Find account from list > Open account > Settings > Margins > Select source > Set date and values
        image15.jpg
      3. Account data source level - Accounts > Click on desired account from list > Click on the connected Facebook Ads, Bing Ads or Google Adwords data source > Margins
        image9.jpg
    • NOTE: Only Google Adwords, Bing Ads and Facebook sources are currently supported by margins.

    • Overrides:
      1. Account data source settings override Account settings which in turn override Agency settings
        image21.jpg
      2. Values with most recent start date override values with an older start date.
      3. Note that the override hierarchy takes precedence over date overrides. For example, if a setting on an agency level has a start date of August, and an account level setting has a start date of June → account values would still be used.
      4. Google Adwords margins can be set for search, video and display networks at each level (Agency, Account, Account network).
    • Margins are applied to historical data by start date. Margin rates are set to be to calculated from a given start date. If a different rate is applied with a more recent time period, a new margin calculation will be applied to data from the start date of the recent period.
    • For Legacy dashboards and reports, the most recent date on the list on the account level will be used for all data. As a workaround to make sure that at all times the legacy data will apply the intended margins, add a start date of one in the future, such as 2080. This way, you will guarantee that this margin will be applied as it will show up as the most recent one on the list.
      image23.jpg
  • Add Facebook Post Images
    • You will now have the ability to create visual displays for Facebook Insight posts, typically containing images.
      image4.jpg
  • Replace Template Text Editor to Froala
    • We replaced the text editor with Froala which is a more powerful solution than Redactor with some new features.
      image30.png
    • The Heading settings will look like this without all of the same settings as the Text Widgets.
      image2.png
    • So what's new?
      • Strikethrough
      • Font Size will now retain in the drop-down allowing the user to know what font size they are viewing.
        image25.png
      • Highlighted text is enhanced (notice in the image that the Froala text on the left is no longer segmented by line and all of the text is highlighted)
        image6.png

      • image31.png Paragraph Style = The Heading you would like to select for your widget.

      • image16.pngClear Formatting allows you to eliminate changes made to the text.
      • You can now add ordered and unordered lists.
        image26.png

BUG FIXES

  • Widget reload data when selected for the first time
    • Widgets will no longer reload the data when a widget is selected
  • Template list tweaks
    • Clicking anywhere on the row will take you to that template
    • Hovering over any row will change the cursor from an arrow into a mouse pointer indicating that if you click there it will take you to the template of choice
  • Shinobi Templates - page context menu cut off at the bottom
    • All options are now visible as the context menu now goes up
      image34.png
  • Google Adwords First Page CPC and Top of Page CPC do not match legacy
  • NinjaTrack - Clicking "Listen to Whisper" play greeting, not whisper
    • Clicking on "Listen to Whisper" from the edit page of a tracking number will now play the correct file.
  • NinjaTrack - When adding a number no source gets selected
  • NinjaTrack - when saving the minimum balance under $10 error message is not shown as page is not brought to the top
  • Added a Back Button when adding Ninjatrack numbers
  • Ninjatrack errors while buying a number
    • Changing the type of number from single to dynamic midway through the process now correcly purchases the right number of poll lines and tracking sources
  • Setup -Ninjatrack - Will now allow search for a tracking number that is in a number pool
  • Table Comparisons - Left Justified
    • The up/down arrow is now left justified so that the data is centered.
      image5.pngimage22.png
  • Date Ranges are showing today's date on widgets, reports and dashboard dropdown.
    • You will no longer be able to view "today's" date on widgets, pdf previews, reports, or any dashboards.
    • The only method of displaying the current date will be using the "run date" clip:  {{run_date}}
  • Facebook Insights - Fans and Fans Non-Paid
    • Page Fans metric is now averaging the data instead of adding it in the total
    • Page Fans Adds Non Paid metric is now pulling the correct data
  • Filtering on Campaign Groups: contains vs. not contains
    • If you have campaign groups and you filter on that campaign group, using the filter option of "contains" or "not contains" for campaign group will return back data rather than the message "No Data was returned"
    • In the case of "not contains" if you use the dimension "campaign group" it will be null and treated as an empty string.
  • Critical Failure Reports Are Missing
    • When an Account has been deleted any associated reports will now say deleted next to the associated Account, clarifying the critical error.

Supporting margin and ability of ad one data source more than once are the most important updates.
